2008 Spring Training Team Camp & Tournament


14 & 15 Year Old Teams

Session # 1 – Thursday, May 29 to Sunday, June 1
Session # 2 – Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8

Teams: 4 teams per session

Location: Southern Union State Community College – Wadley, AL

Exposure: Professional scouts and college coaches are welcome.

Training: Instruction, fundamentals and games each day, with an emphasis on the professional way to play the game that allows players to improve and move to the next level.

Format: Team tournament for 4 teams, with each team playing a total of 6 games.


Fundamental Sessions:

  • Tandem relays & cut-offs
  • 1st and 3rd situations
  • Base running and sliding
  • Fielding
  • Hitting & bunting
  • Throwing
  • Fly ball communications
  • Infield/outfield pre-game procedures

    Facilities:

  • Superb ballpark and playing field
  • Lights for evening & night games and work sessions
  • Adjacent areas for team fundamentals and breakdown work
  • Mini field and other teaching stations for hitting tunnels, soft and short toss, batting tees and bunting
  • State of the art weight room
  • College dorm – fee includes 3 nights housing
  • College dining hall – Fee includes 9 meals

    Other Information:

  • Three instructional sessions for each team
  • Umpires provided by camp
  • Coaches get free meals
  • Info card for each player that will include all relative information for scouts and coaches (example: grading on arm strength, fielding, throwing & running)
  • Teams have an opportunity to prepare for the season & bond as a unit
  • Participation certificate – suitable for framing for each player
  • Camp t-shirt
  • Parents/others invited to attend sessions & games
  • Hotel accommodations in adjoining towns at discounted rates for parents/others
